Viterbo Hotels - In the past, the Castle of Santa Maria was a Convent. It goes back to the 15th Century when the Camaldolese decided to build it with an attached Church. The Church and its frescoes were restored by the present owners. In 1988, the Church was reconsecrated. The building and the outbuildings, surrounded by secular trees and olive groves, are located on a hill of about 400 metres in altitude in the midst of the green countryside, still, they are very close to the populated areas. In autumn, when olive picking season starts, and, in general, until the end of the year, you can see how olives are cultivated and transformed into extra virgin olive oil directly from the Castle's oil mill.
