Paths overlooking the Ligurian Sea or routes that meander in the hinterland of this region. These are the trails and the trekking possibilities that offers the area of the Cinque Terre park, in the province of La Spezia. These paths practically cover the 3800 hectares of this protected area.
The first part of the Cinque Terre trekking paths falls within the so-called “Sentiero Azzurro” (“blue path”). This is the part of the hiking trails and excursions that covers the waterfront of the park, and in particular the area between the towns of Monterosso and Riomaggiore: you pass through vineyards and olive trees, through streets that border the sea, admiring beaches and cliffs.
And there are even a lot of trekking paths that meander in the hinterland. But the main one is the path from Vernazza to Riccò: it is a seven kilometers journey, partly paved, partly dirt road, passing through bridges and Mediterranean garrigue, fords and abandoned quarries, reaching even the pass of Cigoletta, at a height of 612 meters.
But the Cinque Terre park also reserves its visitors other trekking paths that reach some of the most picturesque villages in the area, as Fossola and Volastra, Portovenere and Sant’Antonio, Punta Persico and Colla Bagari.
